If Claude asks you to verify your identity, first establish which check it is requesting. An identity check is not the same as an expired login, a payment check, or an account suspension. Renting another computer does not complete any of those account processes for you.
KYC stands for “Know Your Customer.” People often use it as shorthand for identity checks. Anthropic calls its process identity verification: it applies in selected circumstances, uses Persona, and can involve a physical photo ID and a live selfie. That does not establish a universal requirement for every Claude Code user.
Match the message to the next action
Start with the exact notice, not a social post describing somebody else's account.
For the second case, use the Claude Code login-expired guide. For the third, Anthropic has a separate payment-verification explanation. Do not buy another subscription simply because several different messages contain the word “verify.”
Keep identity documents out of your coding workflow
Navigate to the official account yourself and follow its verification instructions. Do not send documents to a seller who promises approval, upload them to a coding conversation, or leave them in a project folder shared with teammates.
Anthropic says Persona holds the submitted ID and selfie; Anthropic can access verification records when needed. It says verification data is not used for model training. Read the current disclosure before submitting sensitive information rather than assuming that “third-party verification” means nobody else can access it.
If you need technical help, share a redacted error message—not your document, session token, or full verification link.
If verification fails, keep the cases separate
Use the retry and support options in the official verification flow. Record the error and the point where it occurred so support can understand what failed. A failed capture is not proof of a ban; a ban notice needs the account's appeal process, not repeated document uploads.
See the account-suspension guide for that separate situation. Neither a tutorial nor a hardware provider can promise that Anthropic will approve an account.
Would a remote Mac solve this?
A remote Mac changes where your tools and files run. Identity verification concerns an account. These are different decisions.
Anthropic's Supported Regions Policy also considers the user's physical location and organizational eligibility. A US machine does not, by itself, establish eligibility. Check the rules for the service you intend to use before buying hardware.
Keep the project moving without promising account recovery
While an account issue is unresolved, save a project checkpoint: current files, uncommitted changes, completed checks, and the next bounded task. Avoid putting identity documents in that handoff. Switching tools does not automatically transfer conversation history or provider permissions.
If you need another coding workflow, review Codex on Agent.Space and the current pricing, including your eligibility and available model access. Then open an Agent.Space Workspace and try a small read-only task with your project files. This offers a separate way to work where available—not a way to complete or bypass Claude's identity verification.
