Fast enough to feel local.
Sharp enough to forget it isn’t.

The two devices connect directly, with hardware encoding and decoding. Color is never subsampled, so small text keeps its edges, and the moment the picture rests it is refined until no compression shows.

  • Immediate

Picture and input never detour through a server. A keypress and what it changes are barely apart.

  • Fluid

Bitrate follows the network as it changes and lost data is rebuilt on the spot, so motion stays continuous.

  • Sharp

The entire desktop is shown at that Mac’s own resolution. Its settings and its windows stay as they were.

* Median measured on a MacBook Pro (M4 Max) at 60 fps, not counting network time between the two devices.

Bring over just one app.
It becomes an app of this Mac.

No second desktop to stare at. A remote app gets its own windows, its own Dock icon and its own menu bar, side by side with your own windows and switched the same way.

  • Its own windows

Each one is a native window of this Mac. Move it, resize it, minimize it to the Dock.

  • Its own icon

It appears in the Dock and the app switcher. Keep it in the Dock and one click reconnects.

  • Its own menu bar

The menu bar becomes its menus. Copy and paste text and images between the two Macs.

End-to-end encrypted.
Only your two devices can see it.

Picture and keyboard input travel directly between the two devices, encrypted with the Noise protocol and ChaCha20-Poly1305. Our service only helps them find each other and never handles the picture.

  • Keys stay on the devices

Each device generates its own keys and keeps them in the system keychain.

  • Nothing connects unasked

The first connection has to be allowed on the Mac being controlled. Just this once, if you like.

  • Known Macs are recognized

A Mac you connected to is remembered by its key. A device with another key is refused, even under the same device code.

  • Visible, and yours to end

A ring of light surrounds the screen while it is controlled, the menu bar ends it in one click, and trust can be revoked any time.

Two Macs.
Three steps.

No account, and nothing to set up on your router.

  1. 1

    Download and open

Install Remote Screen on both Macs.

  2. 2

    Allow control

On the Mac to be controlled, turn on “Allow other Macs to control this Mac” and grant screen recording and accessibility when asked.

  3. 3

    Connect

On the same network it appears by itself. Anywhere else, enter its device code.

Across networks the two devices still connect directly. A few restrictive networks, such as some corporate ones, may not allow a direct connection.

Another Mac.
